About Dr. Thomas Ragukonis
press release THOMAS P. RAGUKONIS, MD, APPOINTED CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, UMDNJ, DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY Newark, NJ: January 15, 2008––Dr. Thomas P. Ragukonis, a board certified anesthesiologist in Paramus, NJ, has been appointed Clinical Assistant Professor, at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Department of Anesthesiology. In 1991, Dr. Ragukonis graduated from UMDNJ, having obtained his degree as a medical doctor. Adding to impressive credentials–– Diplomate American Board of Anesthesiology, Diplomate American Board of Pain Medicine, Diplomate of American Academy of Pain Management, and now Clinical Assistant Professor, UMDNJ, Department of Anesthesiology––this appointment brings Dr. Ragukonis full circle with his alma mater and the privilege to “pass the torch.” Dr. Ragukonis is the medical director of Bergen Pain Management and is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management. He did his residency training at the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Ragukonis grew up in New Jersey and earned his BA degree from Rutgers University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he graduated in 1991 having obtained his degree as a medical doctor. After completing his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, he immediately began his private practice in Bergen County, New Jersey. During the past 11 years, Dr. Ragukonis has developed Bergen Pain Management into a premiere minimally invasive pain management practice with emphasis on minimally invasive spinal techniques. Dr. Ragukonis continues to keep abreast of the latest cutting edge spinal interventions including disc dekompressor; nucleoplasty, IDET and radiofrequency neurolysis, as well as spinal implantable devices and endoscopic discectomy. Dr. Ragukonis also collaborates with Board Certified spine surgeons, and together they perform endoscopic percutaneous lumbar fusions. While Dr. Ragukonis’ education and certification attest to his knowledge, his patients’ results are the justification for his recognition in this area. Dr. Ragukonis is known for achieving dramatic improvement in pain without major surgery. His patients acknowledge him to be a compassionate, caring physician with an excellent bedside manner. Dr. Ragukonis is a member of the American Association of Clinical Directors and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
