DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY

Newark, NJ: January 15, 2008––Dr. Thomas P. Ragukonis, a board certified anesthesiologist in Paramus, NJ, has been appointed Clinical Assistant Professor, at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Department of Anesthesiology. In 1991, Dr. Ragukonis graduated from UMDNJ, having obtained his degree as a medical doctor. Adding to impressive credentials–– Diplomate American Board of Anesthesiology, Diplomate American Board of Pain Medicine, Diplomate of American Academy of Pain Management, and now Clinical Assistant Professor, UMDNJ, Department of Anesthesiology––this appointment brings Dr. Ragukonis full circle with his alma mater and the privilege to “pass the torch.”

Dr. Gregory Lawler PDF Print E-mail

Dr. Gregory J. Lawler is a board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. Trained as an osteopathic physician at the founding school of osteopathy, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then later trained as an anesthesiologist with his treatment emphasis lying in traditional osteopathic holistic philosophies while offering state of the art injection and pharmacological medical therapies.

Dr. Lawler specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Therapies such as Manipulation, Myofascial Release Techniques, Cranial Manipulation, and Strain Counter Strain are instituted. Additionally, his patients have the added benefit of a medically conventional fluoroscopically precision guided injection techniques.

Dr. Lawler is a Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management, and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Through Dr. Lawler’s combined multidisciplinary approach each treatment plan is devised and tailor fit each patient’s specific diagnosis.

Dr. Schoenfeld has been in private practice anesthesia for eighteen years. The majority of this time, he has been hospital-based, having practiced in Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey and Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He is a founding member of Columbia Anesthesia Associates and for the last three years has made the focus of his practice outpatient anesthesia and pain medicine. He is board-certified in anesthesia and maintains a busy practice in anesthesia and pain medicine in Union County. He is a graduate of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completed his residency in anesthesia at the renowned Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr, Schoenfeld remains current in new developments in both anesthesia and pain medicine by attending numerous conferences throughout the year thereby assuring state-of-the-art care to his patients. Dr. Schoenfeld is also fluent in Spanish.
 
Dr. Uzma Parvez PDF Print E-mail
Dr. Parvez specializes in Pain Medicine with a background in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Surgery. Dr. Parvez completed her Fellowship training in Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology at New York’s renowned Mount Sinai Hospital, where she led the department in minimally invasive procedures that included performing Lumbar and Cervical epidural steroid injections, caudal lysis of adhesions (Racz procedure), sympathetic blocks, discography and disc annuloplasty as well as surgical procedures including Spinal cord stimulator implant.

Earlier, she received training as a Physiatrist in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the respected Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was the Administrative and Academic Chief Resident of the 20 person department. Prior to her tenure at LIJ, Dr. Parvez completed her internship in the Department of Surgery at the University Hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Parvez is a graduate of the prestigious AI Medical College of Punjab University of Lahore, Pakistan where she graduated with honors at the top of her class.
Dr. Parvez regularly attends numerous conferences and advanced training seminars to differentiate her knowledge and skills of procedures for Pain Medicine. In this regard, Dr. Parvez’s work has been published in industry-leading medical journals such as Pain Physician. She has also been honored as an invited speaker at annual conferences, recognizing her accomplishments in the field.
